,Artemisia californica, also known as California sagebrush, of the Asteraceae family, is a shrub that grows in coastal sage scrub, coastal strand, chaparral, and dry foothill communities, from sea level to 800 m (2600 ft.). The leaves have a taco shell shape. Reservations will help keep the Eaton Canyon trails from becoming overcrowded and allow enough space for trail users to maintain physical distancing of six feet, in accordance with current COVID-19 restrictions. It has light sacral and mid-dorsal patches, large, oval and widely-separated parotoid glands, and weak or absent cranial crests.
Eaton Canyon Reservoir and Dam Eaton Wash Reservoir and the Eaton Wash Dam were built in 1937 and are controlled by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. You do not need to make a reservation for each member of your household. As with any wild animal, if it feels threatened by someone coming toward it or chasing it, it may feel the need to protect itself. It likes full sun, loose open soil (porous), and tolerates drought conditions well. It turns red in late summer and autumn before its leaves fall leaving behind bare branches during winter. The underparts of the species are usually light with some brown horizontal barring; the upper parts and upper wings are generally a mottled brown usually baring heavy, complex darker markings.
